Grefynn Girls in Dusseldorf, Next Stop Olympics?

On the first weekend of this month when YOU were doing your normal, daily life work, one of the toughest and most remarkable football matches was taking place on the fields of Dusseldorf. A group of 7 Under 12 girls were playing against three giant like teams. Throughout the game, the Grefynn girls never lost their patience or confidence even when they lost a match.

However, these things weren’t able to stop them from competing against the other teams. Instead they tried incredibly hard and displayed incredible teamwork and tactics. They even made some memorable goals which made the Grefynns proud.

After a tiring bus ride when the team reached Dusseldorf, they were welcomed by pleasant weather. As the first match started against Luxembourg, our player Billie brilliantly kicked the ball with such a force that there was no way the ball could stop before reaching its destination! Which was above the goalkeeper’s head and into the goal. As the game became more intense our players kept on changing tactics and tried their best to make another goal and at the same time playing defence.

In the second game against Dusseldorf our team members were already exhausted from the first game and as there were no substitutes, each player had to play the entire match! Dusseldorf ‘s attack was too resilient against our 7 girls and unfortunately, the Grefynn Girls had to face a shattering defeat.

After a dark, sleepless night as the bright sun cracked up the sky, the team received the news about two more players joining the team. The team spirit was high again but unfortunately, the spirits lost track of height and bumped straight into Pluto! The first game of the day was against Bonn. The girls concentrated extensively on winning the match, but neither did they win nor did they lose. It was a 1-1 tie! Everyone was shocked by the result as amongst the three teams Bonn was the hardest one. The two new players Amy and Paisley truly were angels sent by the heavens.

Paisley scored two amazing goals whereas Ava our another new but skilled player tried out defence as her initial position Later moving to midfield, showing great potential in both positions.

By the third match the players were exhausted, they barely had any energy left to breathe but they still gave the opponent a tough competition. Even though they couldn’t win they made something impossible possible with their coordination, skills, practice and most importantly teamwork.

SO LET’S HOPE THAT THEY ARE SUCCESSFUL THE NEXT TIME!!
